The following is a letter from the Salvation Army regarding suggested school supplies for the Backpacks for Kids program:

Hi Teams,

Thanks again for being proactive on this year’s Back to School support!  We are grateful for all community support, but it’s even more awesome when folks ask about specific needs. 
We have picked the date for Back to School distribution as Thursday, August 27^th -- and will therefore ask for all donations to be to the CISL by August 25, 2015 or earlier if possible.

For supplies, the list below are the top 7 most needed items- supplies we seem to run out of and the stores are sold out by the time we go to get more:

1.       Coil notebooks
2.       3 ring binders
3.       Notebooks
4.       Washable markers (packs of 8, 10, 12 or 16)
5.       Pencil cases
6.       Scissors- safety scissors for elementary
7.       Highlighters
 
Of course, we still provide lined paper, back packs, erasers, glue, duo tangs- we just seem to get enough from the donations your group brings in.  BTW~ We are well stocked with most writing devices (wood pencils, pens, pencil crayons & crayons)!
